Representative Payee

For over 17 years, the Representative Payee program at the Rescue Mission has been supplying bill paying and case management services through an agreement with the Social Security Administration and the Veteran's Administration to people in the community at risk of homelessness and unable to manage their own financial affairs.

Staff assists clients in a variety of ways including:

  • developing budgets for payment of rent, utilities, living supplies and food, etc.

  • individual case managers assigned

  • home visits/inspections

The staff of the Representative Program is dedicated to meet the client's physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs while at the Rescue Mission of Utica. For more information, call 735-1645 x223.




What happens to a person that lacks the skills to pay their own bills?

Often they do some juggling of paying one bill one month and another bill the next. They may feel that they need to buy something and so they purchase it while ignoring their rent. There are other times when the person that they entrusted with their money may exploit them. What happens to a person like this is they risk homelessness.
