RESCUE MISSION HOSTS ANNUAL “GREAT THANKSGIVING BANQUET”
On Thanksgiving Day the Rescue Mission of Utica will continue its tradition of opening its doors and inviting the community’s hungry, homeless, poor and lonely men, women and children by hosting the annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet. Mission staff and volunteers are gearing up to prepare, serve and deliver nearly 1,200 free meals to those in need.
The community is invited to enjoy a family style meal and fellowship at the Mission’s Mary Tilton Clark Dining Center at 201 Rutger Street on Thursday, November 28. The day’s event will begin with a special Thanksgiving service in the Mission’s Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Again this year, nationally-known musician Mark Bolos will be leading in worship and song. A traditional Thanksgiving meal will follow the service.
A special invitation is extended to those who might not otherwise have a place to go or the means to prepare a meal. Home delivery of Thanksgiving meals is available for shut-ins. Shut-ins living in the Utica area, who would like a Thanksgiving dinner delivered to their home should request one at least 24 hours before the event. To reserve a Thanksgiving meal, please call 735-1645 ext. 100 during business hours.
The Great Thanksgiving Banquet is made possible by the generosity of a caring community. If you would like to help provide a meal to the hungry, please visit our website at www.uticamission.org. If you would like to donate non-perishable food items, please call our Food Services Department at 735-1645 x 131.
Each year, the Rescue Mission serves over 142,000 meals to the hungry, provided over 45,000 nights of lodging and care to those facing homelessness, and assists over 1,000 men and women in their battle against substance abuse.
