COMMUNITY SERVICE OUTREACH
Community Meals
We have seen a substantial increase in the number of food boxes given out in 2009. Some 233 food boxes helped 612 individuals for a total of 12,852 meals. The food box provides 21 meals for each member of a family. Not only do we
provide the food, but we provide counseling, advocacy and referrals to help with other critical needs. We strongly believe it is important to keep the family together in their homes and not have parents bring their children to the Mission for meals. If we can provide the food, along with additional services, we can keep people living in a safe, healthy environment, thus avoiding homelessness.
If you or someone you know is in need of any or all of these free services, call 315-735-1645 x 120.
A common theme of people coming to us for food boxes, some for the first time ever, has been the rising cost of living – too much month at the end of the money.
Clothing
Through the generosity of a caring community, we continue to provide free clothing to all residents and area community members.

Over 11,000 pieces of clothing were distributed. Our Community clothing continues to be managed by volunteers and is open to the community one day per week.
A Story of Hope
"Due to the rising cost of utilities and the hard economy, my family runs out of food by the middle to the end of the month. If it were not for the generosity of the Mission and for providing my family with food till my next paycheck, I’m not sure how I would be able to feed my family. I need to pay the bills so we have a roof over our heads, but we also need to eat... I am very grateful for the work that is done at the Mission – they have been such a blessing and encouragement to me."
-- Anestacio and family
Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you? He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ Matthew 25: 44-46
Free, nutritious meals are available during breakfast, lunch and d inner to anyone from the community who is hungry.
Last year, 1,129 guests were fed a meal. At our traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas day meals, volunteers delivered 1,220 meals to area shut-ins.
